Exploring Columbia Road

Sunday, my new favourite day of the week. 'New favourite day?' I hear you ask - well, yes. Up until a few weeks ago I had pretty much been solidly working Sunday for two years or so and now finally I have the restful day back all to myself. Hence the fact it's my new favourite day of the week.

The last day of the week is well known for many things in the UK, roast dinners, chilling, lay ins and of course, markets. London loves a market, one of the many things we share in common. So for the first time in a long time Morgan & I decided to explore Columbia Road Flower Market in celebration of my new found day off.

I really enjoy writing these relaxed kind of blog posts, much like my Lisbon post. So I thought I'd just write a little about of exploration of Columbia Road Flower Market. Let me know if you like these kind of posts.

Three for a Tenner

It's such a fun time of year to head down to Columbia Road, being the festive period and all. The street is bustling with residents and tourists alike - all wanting to get their hands on the greenery. Plus you can't quite beat the smell of the freshly cut Christmas trees, pine galore.

We came via train so buying our Christmas tree wasn't really a viable option but it certainly got me all excited for December coming this week. I'll be purchasing my tree this week for sure, lucky for us the local farm shop delivers them to your door - which is the biggest help when you have a Fiat 500 for a car!

Of course we couldn't leave without some flowers, needed to get the pic for the 'gram right? There's definetly cheaper ways to buy flowers but nothing feels more authentic than a flower market.

It's been a while since I have shown my face on here, to be honest I've been pretty non-stop so finding the time to get any photos of my outfits has been impossible. That being said, now I now have Sunday's off hopefully Morgan will lend a had a little more often.

I think too often I worry about whether my clothes are recent enough for people to care, we live in an incredibly fast paced fashion society nowadays and after a month or so items of clothes can feel not so relevant anymore. This is a mindset I really want to get out of, I have some pieces in my wardrobe that are hella old and I will always adore. The only vaguely new items in my outfit are my beret and boots, this is just a go to throw on outfit for me. I'm so done with the pressure of weekly ASOS hauls.

It was so good to get out and do something different this Sunday, when it's your only day off it's all too tempting to spend it doing chores or laying on the sofa because you're exhausted. I'm going to try and plan more days like this in. So if you have any recommendations on Sunday wanderings, let me know in the comments below!

Ohh also, I did spot that Columbia Road is opening Wednesday evenings in December - so if you fancy some festive blooms they'll be open 5pm-9pm on the 6th, 13th and 20th of December. I'm definetly going to be heading back.
